THE United States plans to introduce a UN resolution next week calling for tough action against Zimbabwe's government, US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said today.
Rice said the US and Britain could present the resolution to the UN Security Council as early as Monday.

The action is in response to the widely denounced run-off election in which Zimbabwe's President Robert Mugabe is accused of using violence to coerce people to vote for him.

"It is time for the international community to act," Rice said. "It is hard to imagine that anybody could fail to act given what we're all watching on the ground in Zimbabwe."

The Herald, Zimbabwe's state-run newspaper, today reported that there was "massive voter turnout" in the election.

A commentary said the turnout was "a slap in the face for detractors who claimed this was a Mugabe election' that did not have the blessing of the generality of Zimbabweans."

And as yet, everyone has failed to act. What is to be done? I do not know, do you?

Once more the posturing, That elusive animal the "International Community" is to act. This mythical beast called to aid, Ruwana, Bosnia safe areas, Congo, Darfur, Somalia, Iraq, Burma, called again to blanket the Zimbabwe situation. The UN has no resources, has little capacity and no hope of meeting the commitments already heaped on it by the Security council. The proverbial "gelding at a stud farm lots of noise little else." The Aspirations or illusions of national politicians with own agendas/self interests dominate. Only if those can be controlled then The UN could have a chance of returning to it's charters and positive work. That however may be as illusive as the "International Community". Should Mugabe be concerned? I think not. Sad but true.

....That's the way! Tough sanctions for 10 years. Bring about more death for innocent Zimbabweans and then invade the place.

They'll never learn!
