A GROUP of RAF veterans were yesterday honoured for their role in the 1948 airlift which relieved West Berlin from a Soviet blockade.
The pilots, honoured in a new exhibit at the Berlin chapter of the Cold War Museum, were an integral part of the Berlin airlift, launched after the Soviets cut off routes between then-West Berlin and the rest of what became Eastern Germany on 24 June, 1948.

William Ball, 80, who was a flight engineer, said: "We were told that we'd been going to Germany for two weeks.

"We ended up staying there for a year."

Normally I would expect the excellent job that the brave young people of the RAF did would receive well deserved praise and respect - but, since the revisionist Left seems intent to lament the demise of their Soviet pals (whom they praise because they 'stood up' to the US/UK and NATO), we can expect to see little comment on this.

Good job, lads! ;)

Today's Vote

Is the government right to continue with its policy of cutting down quangos?
No, I think their independence means we get a better job
Yes, they are unaccountable and expensive
Only if their work is duplicated or plainly redundant
