Ukraine's Russian gas bill paid on time

UKRAINE has paid Russia for October gas supplies on time, but the process was "extremely difficult", prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko said yesterday.
The EU receives about 20 per cent of its gas from Russia via Ukraine. An EU Commission spokesman said Ukraine had claimed it had 25 billion cubic metres of gas in storage, enough to avoid stoppages this winter.
