BRITAIN has denied a visa to Zimbabwe's mines minister for a conference in London, fuelling anger in President Robert Mugabe's Zanu-PF party over western sanctions on its officials.
Mr Mugabe formed a unity government in February with arch-rival Morgan Tsvangirai, now prime minister, to try to end an economic and political crisis worsened by last year's disputed presidential poll. Mr Tsvangirai is in London as part of a western tour to drum up financial support for his country.

But yesterday, a Harare government official said Britain had refused mines minister Obert Mpofu a visa. He had been due to address the conference on mining investment opportunities in the mineral-rich country.

"In our view, all this does not make sense except to confirm that some people in London are pursuing their fight against Zanu-PF," the official said.

"They are trying to undermine the inclusive government with this sort of attitude."

the criminal Zanu PF are no better than the Nazis and should be treated as such!

"They are trying to undermine the inclusive government with this sort of attitude."

No they are not what they are saying is you can dress a "thug up in a suit" but he is still a thug! and they prefer to deal with a more honourable character, that`s why Tsvangaria gets entertained and Zanu PF doesn`t.
if Mugabe ain't happy he can always decline the sixty million pounds Brown would rather spend on Zimbabwe and help keep that tyrant in power! I am sure the Brits wont be overly upset or take offence and being told to "stuff their money"!

Amazing - Mugabe can murder, rape, pillage and hold onto power for over 20 years in a country whose people are dying of hunger whilst he lives a lavish life in his palace and when they dont get a visa to London they take the huff and point fingers at Britain.
F@@kking murdering scum

An article in today's Guardian suggested that engaging with Zimbabwe through Morgan Tsvangirai is the right thing. No it's not! The fact is that if Mugabe died tomorrow it wouldn't make a difference. There are a large number of Mugabe's henchmen who have a vested interest in staying in power and they control the army and police. In any case the people of Zimbabwe will continue to suffer as a result of the damage caused to that unfortunate country.
