TWO Australian police officers who allegedly revealed to a robbery suspect that his girlfriend had had a sex change have ended up in court.
Garrick Jacobson, 26, was in custody at a Sydney police station when PCs Tyrone Stacey and Brendan Ritson are said to have told him his girlfriend used to be a man. Hours later, after being released on bail, Jacobson went round to her flat and beat her senseless, a Sydney court heard.

The victim, Brigitte Fell, who had gender reassignment surgery in London about 12 years ago, fell from her balcony during the attack and ended up in hospital for several days.

Ms Fell told the court she had not told Jacobson about the surgery because "he was temperamental enough". She said some police officers knew because she had sought their help after previous violent incidents.

The two officers have pleaded not guilty to unlawful disclosure of information, which is punishable by up to two years in jail. The case continues.

Jacobson is awaiting sentence for the attack.

#1 RossFyffe's comments are as bigotted and uninformed as ever. If guilty, the 2 police officers should be jailed, as their alleged disclosure served only to embarrass Jacobson and resulted in the severe injury of a another individual. By the way, transvesite is not the same as transgender; the words are totally different in meaning.

"their alleged disclosure served only to embarrass Jacobson"

Just as the PC brigade want to limit freedom of speech to the extent that nobody ever hears anything they claim to find (or sometimes even claim somebody else might find) ofensive now we are being told that people shouldn't know the truth in case the truth turns out to be painful. My guess is that the poor victim of being told this prefers to know.

It appears that the attacker was told by police that his girlfriend was transgender for the sole reason of riling him. The result being that he attacked his girlfriend, the only real victim in this case. This isn't pc gone mad, this is the police delibrately endagering someone's life. For that they do deserve what the law can throw at them.

No matter what, the "girlfriend" should have been upfront about being a man at the start of the relationship.

This is an absolute disgrace, this is the 21st century, and to put this FEMALE in possible danger is so wrong on so many different levels. Trust the police to make a total **** of it, I don't think they should be jailed for this, but I do think they should lose their job's and pay the victim some sort of compensation, as for the attacker..., lock him up, not only is hitting a female wrong, but violence towards anybody is wrong, take a look at the world we live in and ask yourself, IS IT WORTH IT???

#7 that is absolutely no justification for the police putting this woman's life in danger. her boyfirend didn't consider her to be anything other than a woman before being told. So physically andmentally she is a woman, what more does her boyfirend need to know? Just because she does not have ovaries and a womb.

7# The girlfriend being upfront with the male is not at issue here. It is the accusation that police officers deliberately antagonised a man to carry out a violent assault on another person, to her injury.

Ross Fyffe does not common on male violence as a normal means of controlling male or female in relationships. What are you Ross, animal? mineral?

Roberta, i obviously stand by you and your points but i do think that it is not only men that are the abusers in relationships, many women are, a few are physical but many more use resort to psychological abuse and undermine the characters of their partners.

We should not appropriate abuse to a gender, only to individuals.

As for the tortured and twisted souls who have some hang ups about a transgender individual that posted above really need to get some therapy. Looking at the picture in the paper she looks a hell of a lot more of a woman than the average female walking the streets of central scotland, for a start if she did wear jogging bottoms her backside would not hang out the top.
