TWO Australian police officers who allegedly revealed to a robbery suspect that his girlfriend had had a sex change have ended up in court.
Garrick Jacobson, 26, was in custody at a Sydney police station when PCs Tyrone Stacey and Brendan Ritson are said to have told him his girlfriend used to be a man. Hours later, after being released on bail, Jacobson went round to her flat and beat her senseless, a Sydney court heard.
The victim, Brigitte Fell, who had gender reassignment surgery in London about 12 years ago, fell from her balcony during the attack and ended up in hospital for several days.
Ms Fell told the court she had not told Jacobson about the surgery because "he was temperamental enough". She said some police officers knew because she had sought their help after previous violent incidents.
The two officers have pleaded not guilty to unlawful disclosure of information, which is punishable by up to two years in jail. The case continues.
Jacobson is awaiting sentence for the attack.
