President-elect Barack Obama sought to bring some relief to Americans anxious about their economic futures, outlining a plan to create 2.5 million jobs with public works programmes that will rebuild roads and bridges, modernise schools and create alternative energy sources.
The new recovery plan being developed aims to create millions of new jobs by January 2011. Mr Obama wants Congress to approve it quickly so he can sign it shortly after his inauguration.

"These aren't just steps to pull ourselves out of this immediate crisis; these are the long-term investments in our economic future that have been ignored for far too long," Mr Obama said in the weekly Democratic radio address.

He called the plan "big enough to meet the challenges we face" and said that it will jump-start job creation and lay the foundation for a strong economy.

"We'll be working out the details in the weeks ahead, but it will be a two-year, nationwide effort to jump-start job creation in America and lay the foundation for a strong and growing economy," Mr Obama said.

Mr Obama named longtime spokesman Robert Gibbs as White House press secretary. Mr Gibbs went to work for Mr Obama's Senate campaign in 2004 and was communications director while Mr Obama was in the Senate.

Mr Obama's new director of communications will be Ellen Moran, who is currently executive director of the Washington women's political group EMILY's List. Ms Moran will join a team of longtime close advisers who will work closely with Mr Obama on a daily basis.

Her deputy in the White House will be Dan Pfeiffer, who is communications director for Mr Obama's presidential transition team. He helped manage the press operation on the Obama campaign.

Mr Gibbs went to work for Mr Obama's Senate campaign in 2004 and was communications director while Mr Obama was in the Senate.

All this man has to do is tell the US citizens he cannot and will not raise Capital Gains taxes for the next few years.. till the economy stabilizes.. the market would probably go back up. But when you are faced with DOUBLE in capital gains, you take your money OUT.
He can't say it's not because he isn't President yet, he has already promised Afghanistan more aid..and much more in the last few days.

I will gladly apologize for mistaking you, but I still believe that you have now adopted several identities. Otherwise, there is a disconcerting population of clones that sound exactly like yourself. Your postings # 3,4,6,8 and 9 all sound the same. Maybe it's just me. . . . . . or maybe you are the originator of your own "kool aid" supply.

Why do you keep referring to our next president as the "Great One" and the Messiah?" No one else does. . .

everyone knows that any marginal increases in US government spending are to be paid for by borrowed money. Recently, the US government gave trillions of dollars away to wealthy businesses. It is difficult to figure out exactly how much was given away, but I've read one count of $4.25 trillion. all of this money is borrowed. For all of the new spending Obama speaks of will also be paid for by borrowed money. Today the US government spends over $400 billion each year just on interest on the government debt. Just in the last year of the Bush admin this debt increased by it seems about 50%, from about $9 trillion to $14 trillion. and now with Obama's new spending the interest expense will just go up. It will be a burden requiring more taxation.

but it doesn't have to be this way. When John Kennedy was alive he ordered that the treasury department print up large quantities of $5 bills. Then he transferred this new money to a bank and deposited it. by law it was considered legal tender by the bank and the US government wrote payroll checks on it. Money was created from thin air and it was used to pay the government's bills without incurring any expense of interest or principal to be paid back to a bank. But bush does it different. he borrows massively and thus creates a future obligation for the taxpayers. Obama has never said that he will use Kennedy's system, it seems he is identical to bush on this money-creation issue.

Just weeks before John Kennedy's murder he issued an executive order stripping the federal reserve bank of its ability to lend money to the US government. The US government is historically the best customer of the federal reserve. The federal reserve is a private for profit bank that makes money by creating money from thin air, then lending it out to other banks mostly and then collecting the principal and interest. As Kennedy took their best customer from them and set a new pattern he was doing something that was very much again

Wally,

As Kennedy took their best customer from them and set a new pattern he was doing something that was very much against the profits of that private bank.

Abraham Lincoln did the same as John Kennedy and was also killed while he was president. Lincoln created money from thin air without paying for it to a bank. He wrote how this was a far superior system of money creation. He also wrote that the bankers in America were a bigger enemy of the people than the confederate states that they were at war with.

Obama could do something similar. He needs to show us if he serves the banksters or the people. Given that he selected a Federal Reserve executive to be his Treasury Secretary I think the man is a criminal just like Bush.

What ?

Now "Mr. Dingy" is also a worshiper of "The Great One", the "Messiah ?" He's a smart guy, but . . . . ."Messiah?"

Why give spiritual homage to a guy who has now moved so far to the CENTER that he is starting to scare folks like myself ?

You'll have to bear with me today, as I am suffering from "Mu Shu Pork" deprivation, caused, understandably, by the Obama-created recession and subsequent rationing of pork products on Sunday. I'll have to check with Rahm Israel Emmanuel on this . . . . .

Look for all current domestic and international problems to be attributed to the "Messiah" from now on . . . . . .

Doreen in 16:

are there any facts I put up in 14 or 15 that you feel are incorrect?

I find it amusing that people ridicule Obama's lack of business experience. Let me tell you about GW Bush's business experience. A rich Saudi man who is a member of the infamous Bin Laden family invested a large sum of money into GW Bush's oil company that he started. The oil company never made any money at all. but they had a lot of money from the investor, when it disbanded GW Bush pocketed some cash. Then Bush bought a professional baseball team. a few years later he sold it for a large profit - as we've seen with the huge increases in the money supply while focusing the money on rich people causes the things that rich people put into their portfolios to spiral upwards in price. In other words bush's business career was a zero in reality. yet nobody attacked him for it.

After the election virginian was wise enough to show us George Washington's words about partisan bickering. People get so focused on hating the other party that they can't even think straight. as washington prophetically said this facilitates nothing but evil.

We've had enough of it. but what this 2-party circus really does is it creates a smoke-screen of confusion and passion while behind the scenes criminals rule the government and at high levels both parties serve that criminal element.

It is people like you who have contributed to the downfall of the USA.

Keep up your attitude and you will destroy your country alltogether.

You really don't get it. Negativety displayed by you and others in the face of what is the result of the most calamitous presidency in history will play into the hands of Osama bin Laden and accelerate his aims for your country.

You need to stand behind your president elect and not criticise his every move otherwise the US will be destined for the dustbin of history.

The way some of you people talk one would imagine you actually would relish the idea of another 8 years of mediocrity.

The Mental Health Foundation of Australia may be of some help to you.

http://www.betterhealth.vic.gov.au/bhcv2/bhcarticles.nsf/pages/Paranoia_symptoms?OpenDocument

Paranoid symptoms may range from mild to severe. They depend on the cause but, generally, a person who is paranoid may:

Be easily offended
Find it difficult to trust others
Not cope with any type of criticism
Assign harmful meanings to other people’s remarks
Be always on the defensive
Be hostile, aggressive and argumentative
Not be able to compromise
Find it difficult, if not impossible, to ‘forgive and forget’
Assume that people are talking ill of them behind their back
Be overly suspicious – for example, think that other people are lying or scheming to cheat them
Not be able to confide in anyone
Find relationships difficult
Consider the world to be a place of constant threat
Feel persecuted by the world at large
Believe in unfounded ‘conspiracy theories’.

and just as difficult to support an appeaser who pretends to know all the Palestinian problems while overlooking the fact the problems have been created by themselves and the wars they have started against Israel. The fact that rockets have begun again daily shelling down on Israelis doesn't mean anything to you. I find that repulsive. And the fact that you are twisting truths again to fit your agenda of hatred, I find that disgusting. The fact that you neglect to admit the Palestinians have prolonged all of this by not recognizing Israel I find reprehensible.
I also find reprehensible that the Palestinian leadership allows the Palestinians to live the way they do.

Golly in #19:

you said "your military members still seem to have admiration for Bush, why is that?" please let me inform you. the career military people are more likely to support bush than the general population. but bush is very unpopular even among them.

When bush visits the troops in afghanistan or iraq they are very careful to confiscate all the bullets from the soldiers. they are careful about guarding him around the troops too. the anti-war republican candidate named ron Paul was the #1 candidate in terms of raising money from military personnel actually stationed in Iraq or Afghanistan. Research showed that Ron Paul got about 5 times as many donations from those people than McCain got. I can't emphasize enough that bush is strongly hated.

and as far as bush's business experience goes - its like I said, he never accomplished anything. He had money to buy a baseball team, he owned it for a few years, he sold it at a huge profit. but this had nothing to do with anything he did. all of the teams went up in value due to the inflation of the prices of those teams - and this occurs because the money supply is increased and the increase focused on rich people. Rich people with excess money bid up the prices of properties. and Bush's oil company produced nothing. but he got rich from it as I said - a Bin Laden provided investment and Bush pocketed the money.

bush became president because the powers that be foisted him onto us showing him as one of few orchestrated choices, and the same thing was done with Obama.
65

mike - across the pond,

wally and his tinfoil hat 24/11/2008 21:04:16
wally... care to retract your assertion about W's popularity with the military?

McCain carried 70% of the military... BO about 25%
discounting that 20% of the military is minority, this turns out to be almost 80% support of McCain

McCain isnt W but W is VERY popular in the military... W isnt Ronald Reagan, but he is VERY popular...

make no mistake the MILITARY caught the significance of BO deciding to "skip" a trip to Landstuhl... and this will cost us in military retention over the next 4 years... WATCH IT!!!

now understand this, BO IS the POTUS elect, and every person in the military is committed to the POTUS, in spite of the FACT that they KNOW that he doesnt hold them with the same regard.

can you find polls that show the military doesnt like W... yes you can... my question to you is this... are you aware that merely answering these polls is against the UCMJ? those answering these polls are a) NOT in the military b) NOT living up to their oath c) NOT committed to their CINC. hopefully THESE are the first people out... sadly THESE are the ones with their faces stuffed full at the trough....
66

mike - across the pond,

wally.... they DO make decaf brands 24/11/2008 21:24:30
as far as confiscating bullets.... I wouldnt find any of this surprising if this was STANDARD PROCEDURE since Anwar Sadat... it has precisely nothing to do with your personal loathing of the man...

you STILL going on about Ron Paul???

5x the funds... where did you get that? where did he get those donations from? Paul never visited Afghanistan or Iraq last year... was it people who SAID they were there.... and you believe them... ROFLMMFAO.... you get all this from your secret McCain hating site... the one that has all your videos? lets just think about this for a moment... McCain was there, but he wasnt there to raise money... PAUL OBVIOUSLY WAS... I'm quite sure McCain would lose an election before he would accept money from those serving in military... the only proifessional people we pay less than our teachers are our military.... McCain wanted their votes, but I and I am sure McCain really believed that they had MUCH better places to spend their monies than HIS campaign... kinda makes paul seem kinda slimy doesnt it? or at least his LOONY BIN supporters...

here's an article about a rising local politician possibly bumped off. it happens all the time. Don't think it doesn't happen globally. CIA & other US intelligence agencies get somewhere between $1 trillion & $2 trillion in funding. All I'm giving you is facts Mike.

you are correct though that I previously selected info to document that military people didn't support bush or mccain & you showed contrary documentation which was more conclusive. I said the military people actually stationed in Iraq / Afghanistan gave money to Ron Paul over McCain by something like a 4 to 1 ratio. That speaks loudly. Ordinary US soldiers see the wars & become anti-war. yet they are spoken of globally as the slime of the earth. they are not. they are soldiers doing a job. I'm sure you recall that jesus respected the soldiers assigned to kill him and did not judge them for this.

but I contend to you that among the US military / intelligence complex are very dark evil forces that kill very unjustly and on a large scale.

near where I live they are going to name a new high school after John McCain. but remember - in San Fran they are naming a sewage treatment plant after george w. bush.

as you know Mike, there are more important things than politics. the good book tells us that this world is made in such a way that evil people will dominate it. Let them make their money & do their evil. the day of judgement will come. We can only look forward to this.

I am happy as my wife serves southern fried pork chops and home fries american style. and I will follow jesus' advice and see to it that these things we've discussed do not trouble me. When military forces from abroad come to us Mike I will place myself in their path as will you. Remember what George washington told us of t

Remember what George washington told us of the day when foreign forces came to our country to kill us. The one that made us will raise and rally our dead for our cause in that day. Here is a bible verse.

"Romans 8:31 What shall we then say to these things? If God [be] for us, who [can be] against us?"

I do not believe that Lynne, Southern Gent, Carolyn or some others accused really have multiple identities. However, its been obvious for a long time that somebody plays games with identities with multiple identities and someone also has in the past been able to usurp other users' identities and put up fake posts by a user.

thanks Mike in 98 for that link on the bush sewage treatment plant that failed in the election. There will NOT be a sewage plant named after GW Bush as I'd thought.
