NAKED cyclists converged on Vancouver's main police station at the weekend to protest at the arrest of a fellow cyclist who had taken his three-year-old son on a nude ride.

Naked Bike Ride spokesman Conrad Schmidt said it all began when six squad cars and a van showed up as the group of about 75 naked cyclists arrived at the city's English Bay.

Vancouver Police Constable Jana McGuinness said several bystanders had called the police, concerned about the child's well-being.

Police arrived and the man agreed that both he and his child would wear underwear during the ride.

But as he left to join the other riders, the man stripped his and his son's clothes off.

Officers arrested him on the spot, citing public nudity laws and prompting the mass protest.

Fair enough if they want to ride around in the noddy that's up to them, and if it's unlawful take the consequences. It's a bit much taking his kid along though, geez that's bordering on child abuse.

They should ship the lot of them to Eureka or Alert, in mid-winter, and let them cycle naked as much as they want.

An adult cyclist in an accident might be able to step or roll clear of trouble. The three year old is strapped onto a frame. If the bike goes over then the child's head is thrown onto the hard surface. All cyclists are playing in the traffic. Isn't it a bit much to make their toddlers do the same?

#6-JAYDEETEE,

Last time I was in Vancouver they didn't have any cobblestones on any street. But it would still be a good idea to make that idiot suffer for his thoughtlessness.
I wonder what his "Insignificant Other" had to say to him for pulling such a stunt.
It's a wonder that the police didn't take the three-year-old child into care as his daft daddy doesn't have a clue how to look after him.
Daddy deserves 6-months in the slammer for cruelty to that innocent child.
Cheers,
Haggis MacBagpipes™©
