A DESPERATE Robert Mugabe has asked China for a £25 billion loan to help repair Zimbabwe's shattered economy.
The state-controlled Herald newspaper said industry and trade minister Obert Mpofu had confirmed the request by the Zimbabwean government.

Mr Mpofu said the grant would help the Zimbabwe authorities "to take care of our immediate and future long-term requirements".

It would also help stabilise the economy, he said.

Analysts warn that the crippling economic crisis could prove Mr Mugabe's downfall in next month's polls. For the first time, the 84-year-old president faces two tough challengers: Simba Makoni, the former finance minister, and the main opposition leader, Morgan Tsvangirai, who has already indicated he will ask for international help to rebuild the economy if he wins.

Zimbabwe's annual inflation rate reached 100,580.2 per cent last month.

the Bread basket of Africa! reduced to the basket case of Africa! were are all the people who said Ian Smith was the one that had to go, and and allow this despicable excuse for a human being to utterly destroy the beautiful country of Zimbabwe and brutalize the most friendly and gentle of African people.
its hard to believe that the world can sit and watch this, and barely make a protest! humanity has lost its humanity.

No-one from the PC Brigade is jumping up and down because Mr Rumbabwe isn't white, unlike the country's previous, highly competent leader.

Presumably he needs the money for an even bigger birthday party for his 85th birthday.

Country for sale at £25 billion. China will never relinquish control if this happens. The traitor Mubabee has sold his people into modern slavery.

Och well ...

Jacob Zuma will do the same thing
... to neighbouring South Africa

... ehh??

Amazing how quiet
... all the former Anti-Apartheid activists
... are on this one though ehhh??

Uncle Nelson is an old guy now.

Shame.

He was a Man of Principle.

He could teach oor Jessie Broon about
... how to be:
... "a Conviction Politician"

Shame Broon took lessons
... from Thatcher instead.

However I bet
... all the people
... who campaigned
... for Uncle Nelson
... and Winnie Mandela
... are sick as a parrot now

There is no oil in Zimbabwe so no chance of UK or America doing anything about Mugabe.

Mugabe is a useless black man with a chip on his shoulder and no idea how to run an economy. That is the bottom line. He is also a barbaric monster and an idiotic fool.
He begs for money because he spent all the money Zimbabwe had. He is loser of epic proportions and the people are hoping he will die soon.
He just spent 3 000 0000 0000 0000 zimbabwe dollars on his birthday banquet. People are dying, and food is scarce because he gave farms to black people who cant operate them. PS;The people he gave farms to were all supporters.
Mugabe must die soon, and then we can all have a party! And we will, Africa will rejoice, you just know it...

I doubt very much that China would want to prop up such an obvious basket-case economy with that monster in charge. Mugabe is Grade A bad news. Most, if not all, of Africa is bad news. Sad but true.

China has a great opportunity here to make this loan, but only on condition that Mugabe stands down.

Big deal, the US begs China for money EVERY DAY. Fiat money, yet another infringement on our rights by the gov't. Add it to the ever-growing list of violations:
They violate the 1st Amendment by opening mail, caging demonstrators and banning books like "America Deceived" from Amazon.
They violate the 2nd Amendment by confiscating guns during Katrina.
They violate the 4th Amendment by conducting warrant-less wiretaps.
They violate the 5th and 6th Amendment by suspending habeas corpus.
They violate the 8th Amendment by torturing.
They violate the entire Constitution by starting 2 illegal wars based on lies and on behalf of a foriegn gov't.
Support Dr. Ron Paul and save this great country.

It seems that Mugabe underestimates Chinese business savvy.

When one provides a "loan", one expects that loan to be repaid at some time future. Surely the Chinese are not unaware of the disaster caused to the entire world that resulted when American Government controlled agencies and their surrogates in its criminal real estate industry provided home loans to "unqualified" applicants. Its unlikely the Chinese are willing to make the same mistake.

Of course the economy is ruined Mugabe is a dictator (he even holds adolf hitler is high esteem) and dictator's always need crisis to hold onto their power.

If you study the history of the world you notice a re-occurring theme when it comes to dictators, when their rule is threatened they ALWAYS create economic problems.

Mugabe is shrewd however he's not an idiot - by the economic collapse he has created he is now able to call emergency powers and through them he can sell land to china for next to nothing for a national economy but which will make him a very rich man.

Well played Mugabe.

One last note, I swear.

Something that has not received much publicity about Mugabe is when he kicked out the white farmers, and killed a few. - He also had the black farmers, who knew what they were doing, killed as well.

Once again Mugabe is not an idiot, he planned this from start to end. It gave him more power than any previous leader of the nation, it now gives him the power to declare emergency and alter the constitutions/laws and it allows him to bring in his Chinese buddies and get very rich.

China is Communist - the ZanuPF is Socialist/Communist - and you think this is all by accident? Baloney, this was planned.

Sadly, the truth is that Mugabe has very little choice in the matter of Zimbabwe's demise as much as the South African Government has no choice in the matter as well. Is it just a coincidence that Mugabe chased all the Zim farmers of their farms while in South Africa thousands of farmers have already been killed since the ANC came to power? (Only farmers on high food producing farms) No my friends they are just following the UN/WHO/Club of Rome, etc world depopulation plan to ensure a food shortage all over the world and this with the support of the American, British and European Governments. Check your daily news carefully. Soon the term "Food shortage" will be in your face all the time. When last did you check the rise in food prices in your local grocer. Its time to wake up people. The real culprits are laughing at our antics of blaming Mugabe and his other African cronies.

China may help Mugabe out. The trouble is the money will go straight into his pocket.
