HARRY Potter author JK Rowling is expected to receive an invited to President-elect Barack Obama's star-studded inauguration gala, it has been reported.
Obama revealed that he reads Edinburgh-based Rowling's tales to his daughters Sasha, seven, and Malia, ten, and both girls are said to be huge fans of the series.

As a result, the author is expected to be among 500 people invited to the exclusive gala, being held to mark Obama's inauguration to the Presidency on January 20, along with celebrities such as George Clooney and Angelina Jolie.

• The author's literary agent has dismissed reports of a musical Harry Potter stage show, saying: "There are no plans for a Harry Potter musical, full stop."

Daniel Radcliffe, who plays Harry, said: "I have heard things, but it wouldn't have my blessing."
