WHITE House wild child turned inner-city school teacher, Jenna Bush is to get married at the family home in Texas tomorrow with her father, President George Bush, escorting her down the aisle.
Mr Bush boarded Air Force One to fly to Texas yesterday, where Jenna Bush will be married this weekend before about 200 guests at the family's secluded ranch. Asked if he was excited, the president smiled and gave a thumbs-up.
In her teens, Jenna
, who has a twin sister, Barbara, was caught out more than once as an under-age drinker, and became a byword for Bush family excess. Since 2005, the former party girl has taught in a tough Washington DC school and she is about to publish a book about a young single mother with AIDS whom she met.
In August the White House announced that the 26-year-old would tie the knot with longtime boyfriend Henry Hager, from Virginia, who turned 30 yesterday.
The President was "excited like any proud father is to see one of his daughters get married", White House spokesman Gordon Johndroe told reporters aboard the plane.
First lady Laura Bush was already at the 1,600-acre spread in central Texas getting ready for the outdoor wedding.
The couple opted for a low-key wedding, thinking a White House ceremony would be too formal and stuffy.
No details are expected to be released, apart from a photograph.
Tricia Nixon, a daughter of Richard Nixon, was the last child of a president to get married at the White House, in 1971.
