BANGLADESH has banned Hizb ut-Tahrir, an Islamist group, for "trying to destabilise the country", days after unidentified attackers bombed the car of an MP from the ruling party.
The London-based group, said to have been banned in at least 20 countries, topped a government list of about ten groups suspected of plotting subversive acts, Bangladeshi home minister Sahara Khatun said.
