'New bin Laden tape' aired

THE Arabic television station al-Jazeera has broadcast what it calls a new audio tape by Osama bin Laden, in which the al-Qaeda leader slammed Palestinian talks with Israel.
Bin Laden is heard saying that "Palestine cannot be retaken by negotiations and dialogue, but with fire and iron". If yesterday's recording is genuine, it would be the second tape from bin Laden in two days. Yesterday, the Vatican said his earlier accusation that Pope Benedict XVI had joined a worldwide campaign against Islam was "baseless".
