£12,000 staked on catching killer robbers

GOVERNMENT officials and private groups in the Philippines have offered a one million peso (£11,875) reward for a gang of robbers who shot dead nine people during a bank raid, police said yesterday.
President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo was said to be "fuming" and "dismayed" and ordered an immediate, thorough investigation, according to executive secretary Eduardo Ermita.

"It was definitely a work of the devil," Ermita told local radio.
