as, with floral and mineral notes of citrus fruits, such as peach or pear which will gradually turn into hazelnut and roasted almond with age.
Tio Pepe NV - Tesco - £8.99 Why don't people drink more sherry? This is a superb example of dry Fino which should be drunk on a hot day – it is distinctive and incredibly refreshing and perfect with tapas or just as an aperitif. Give it a try.
Tesco Finest Los Fresnos Pinot Noir 2007 - Tesco - £7.49 On a hot day you often don't want a big heavy red so this offering from Chilean winemaker, Aurelio Montes, hits the mark.
This is a medium-bodied, smooth Pinot Noir with berry fruit aromas and cherry flavours. For something a bit different, try it lightly chilled.
Bargain of the WeekSileni Satyr Sauvignon Blanc 2007 – £8.19 down to £6.19 at Tesco. With bright citrus aromas, this wine is full of intense fruit flavours including passion fruit, guava and gooseberry. It's lifted by fresh acidity, mineral complexity and herbaceous notes, and a long, lingering finish.
Bottle of the weekTesco Finest Steillage Riesling 2006 – £5.99. German wine has long taken a beating but this should change the minds of the most hardened activists! It has a lovely minerality, with very ripe peach and apricots on the palate, and a refreshing finish.
