THANK you to everyone who has taken part in The Scotsman’s Wildlife Watch, which came to an end last night.
But it’s not too late to join in – e-mail your wildlife photographs and notes from the weekend to
or post them to: Wildlife Watch, The Scotsman, 108 Holyrood Road, Edinburgh, EH8 8AS.
The notes and pict
ures will be passed on to Biological Recording in Scotland, which will distribute the data among its network of local recorders and biological records centres.
Notes should include the name of the species, where it was seen (including a six-figure grid reference or postcode), the date of the sighting and your own name and contact details. Here is a selection of some of our readers’ notes:
Had a really successful Wildlife Watch this weekend, saw lots of different things. In the garden we have frogs, newts, butterflies on the buddleia, robin, sparrows, pied wagtail, blue tits, slugs, snails and, in the house, lots of Alexander beetles.
On our three walks, mum and I saw sparrowhawk hovering, swooping and being chased by two crows, an owl being chased by one crow. We were really lucky to see a mother peregrine and her young hunting.
Cameron Millar (aged ten)BerwickshireThe following were observed in our garden: wood pigeons; blackbirds; great tit; blue tit; spotted woodpecker; chaffinch; robin; and greenfinch.
