A SANTA in an Australian department store said yesterday he has been sacked for saying "ho, ho, ho" and not the preferred "ha, ha, ha" because the word "ho", which is American slang for whore, could offend women.

Eh - what the blazes are you going on about #1. As to the article as usual you only have half the story. He wasn't sacked for saying ho,ho,ho. He was sacked for several work related incidents including speaking inapproprately to a young girl. Get it right Hootsman.

#1 Actually a gentleman was fired, or had to resign from the Mayor's office in Washington D.C. several years ago for using the word niggardly. He happened to be white and the uproar that word caused was unbelievable.

Since when did Australia adopt American slang as thier main way of communication?

Strange coming from a country that leads thier tourist ads in the UK with "Where the Bl**dy hell are you?"

As an Australian I have to ask the question, "Where did this happen?" Certainly not in South Australia or I'd have read about it in the papers. All our santas say "ho ho ho" ... we're NOT Americans!

#8 Spider68. It was in Queensland. Have a look at the following:

At least it wasn't as bad as the Microsoft Santa Bot, which had to be taken off-line for talking dirty and using bad language.

It seems amazing to me that people can suffer so much just because they say certain words nowadays...

Does anyone remember that old rhyme about how "Sticks and stones can break my bones..."?

It seems to be looked upon worse if you dare to utter the word beginning with "N" and rhyming with "trigger" than if you utter the word beginning with "F" and rhyming with "duck".

Madness.... Total Madness....

Next they'll be trying to tell you what to think.

"Next they'll be trying to tell you what to think."

Not you, my son. Your brain is beyond redemption.

There's a reason why many people consider the "N" word worse than the "F" word. Think hard. It has something to do with the word being offensive and only applying to a group of people who have certain physical characteristics.
