A MAN was killed after a fight over lost golf balls turned to violence.
The elderly victim was reportedly beaten with a cane during the altercation and suffered a heart attack.

A man has been charged with manslaughter in connection with the bizarre incident, on a course south of Boston, Massachusetts, in the US.

Robert Carnathan, 54, faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted of the charge.

Carnathan is accused of killing grandfather Donald King, who was to turn 80 next week.

Prosecutors say Carnathan threw stones at Mr King and beat him on the head and legs with a cane as nearby golfers rushed in to stop the fight.

Carnathan, who has used a cane to walk for several years, has said he acted in self-defence.
