HEAVY snow brought traffic chaos to the west of Scotland yesterday.
Poor driving conditions caused road closures and accidents in Glasgow, Ayrshire and Lanarkshire, while schools were also closed in some areas.

rn Isles. The M77, M80 and M4 and M8 were all hit by closures and tailbacks brought about by accidents and breakdowns.

A spokesman for Transport Scotland, which looks after the country's major roads, said yesterday: "Our operating companies have worked hard to treat the roads and keep the network moving.
"However, as can be expected during any period of inclement weather, driving conditions were more difficult."
Public transport was also affected, with buses delayed as traffic ground to a standstill.
A landslip in the Rhu area caused West Highland line train services from Glasgow to Oban, Fort William and Mallaig to start and terminate at Crianlarich.
