SNOW hit parts of Scotland today as forecasters predicted the first significant fall of the winter.
The Met Office issued a severe weather warning covering almost the entire country, with heavy snow predicted for much of Scotland.

The Grampian area will bear the brunt of the bad weather, and 20 to 30cm of snow could fall on higher ground.

Sno
w has already been falling across the eastern half of the country today, from Aberdeenshire to the Borders.

By 9am, Grampian Police had already dealt with two minor road accidents in the Moray area due to icy road conditions.

The snow is expected to get heavier throughout the night across central and eastern Scotland.

Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen could see up to 15cm of snow by the morning, forecasters said, but this is likely to melt during the day tomorrow.

Forecasters predicted that snow showers would fall across inland areas today and would be heavier on higher ground such as the north west Highlands and the mountains of Argyll.

Julian Mayes, a forecaster with MeteoGroup, the Press Association's weather division, said: "We are already seeing fairly widespread showers across the eastern half of Scotland.

"It is only showers rather than a continuous band of snow and it looks as if this is going to continue throughout the day.

"It could be 20 to 30cm up in the hills."

But forecasters said that the cold weather would not last long, with milder temperatures and rain expected by the weekend.

Does someone experience difficulty with the thought process involved in forming paragraphs? This article is quite poorly written.

Scotland must look beautiful covered with snow. Not travel weather though, time to stay home.

World exclusive: Northern european country gets a spot of snow in winter, which then melts. The end.

send some of that white stuff here. It's been very warm--near 60 on Christmas.. Today was the first time we've worn heavy coats and we should be back in the high 50's and 60's by the weekend. Not at all like winter should be.

#3 Here's another World exclusive.

Mistake. It's not global warming but global cooling! The Big Freeze is upon us. A new mini ice age and there is no heat for us all because politicians have been dithering. Nuclear power stations are at the end of their lives and the wind turbines aren't moving. It's the snow you see - they are all iced up!

But don't worry if you get hypothermia - In Gordon Brown's UK, if you aren't within x, y and z BMI then your not fit to be carted off to the NHS.

Give us our money back. Now is that question in connection with our NHS contributions or the 6 billion of carbon subsidies that all these power companies have been taking from us or both?
