THE first virtual images of Napier University's new multi-million-pound campus at Sighthill, are today published exclusively for the first time to the public on Scotsman.com.
Work on the redevelopment is set to start in the spring and the new glass-fronted building is due to be open to students in 2010.
The new campus - which will be home to 5000 students - will feature a sports centre and bring the health, life and social sciences faculty together under one roof for the first time.
It forms part of the university's GBP 100 million estate strategy, which also includes the redevelopment of its Craiglockhart and Merchiston campuses.
It is hoped the new campus will help to regenerate one of Edinburgh's most deprived areas.
The 15-year plan to transform Sighthill will see the tower blocks replaced with new homes and a play park.
A new street is to be built complete with a parade of shops, a new community centre, library and a student housing development.
A new civic space and park will be created beside the redeveloped Napier campus.
The university's plans have been drawn up by a design team led by RMJM architects who helped create the Scottish Parliament building.
