HARRY POTTER author JK Rowling has given prisoners learning to read a boost by visiting them at Saughton Prison.
The Edinburgh author presented awards to inmates earlier this month on behalf of the Shannon Trust.

The charity's Toe by Toe reading programme sees prisoners teach other inmates to read with the support of mentors.

According to the charity, 65 per cent of all prisoners have a reading age of 11 years or under.

Rowling said: "Learning to read represents a significant turning point in anyone's life, and may be the one thing that makes a difference to help people in prison turn their lives around."

Seriously, while I don't really support Rose's obsessive use of Caps Lock or talk of 'God' I have to agree that jo is doing a really good thing for people all over. She's done charities and now this... it's great knowing SOMEONE at least caes about the state of our world. I'd like to add that Grushka's comment was total ignorance. Just because Jo's books are for children and younger people doesn't mean that she's not good, it especially doesn't matter if you don't like them, keep yer trap shut and go read something else.If you think you're such a grand writer how about you come out with something? Why were you ven in the children's section anyhow? That's for those of us whose heads aren't shoved so far up our anuses that we actually enjoy to read things that aren't merely limited to the classics and romance novels.
I just want to let this grushka know that the percentage of people who like the books outweigh the percentage that doesn't. I
d also like to state that I fully support JKR in her quest of helping charities, and I'll always lover her books.
