THE French president, Nicolas Sarkozy, has dismissed media "rantings" about his marriage and appealed to the British media: "I love England – don't make me regret it."
Mr Sarkozy was clearly irritated by questions yesterday at a press conference in Downing Street about internet rumours that both he and his wife, the model-turned-singer Carla Bruni, were having affairs.

"You clearly have no understanding of a pre
sident's timetable – I don't have a second to waste in these rantings, not even half a second," he told the French reporter who first raised the issue.

"I don't know why you would use your time asking such a question," he told him. He later entirely ignored a similar query posed by a UK journalist.

Gordon Brown introduced the French president as "a great European, a very good friend of mine" and praised him for "leadership at its very best" over the global economic crisis.

He praised his guest and described relations between the countries as an "entente formidable de grande vitesse".

Mr Sarkozy returned the compliments, calling the Prime Minister a "convinced and convincing reformer" with whom he worked closely "in confidence and in trust".

Asked if he would urge David Cameron, the Tory leader, to rejoin the European People's Party (EPP), he said: "I don't want to meddle in domestic affairs. If you ask me whether I would have preferred him to stay in the EPP – my answer is yes."

French president, Nicolas Sarkozy: "I love England – don't make me regret it."

This grave insult must not go unpunished. Braveheart Scots demand that Mister Salmond form an army and commandeer some ships to sail from Leith to France and invade in revenge for this outrage! Mister Salmond must be provided with a white horse and lead this expeditionary force, and not return without Sarkozy's head on the end of a stick.

Fought an died for!

#1 Fifi the Bow Wow,

Given that the gentleman in question was, at the time, in England I see no insult!

Now, had he been in Edinburgh!!!!

Oh Fifi, You are a WAG ! (A NEW LABOUR one of course!)

But wait; Msr Sarkozy comited the gravest of grave
slurs on your "Hero", The Prime Minister, and which I feel is my duty no less, to bring to your attention.

Hev described Gordon "Maggie" Brown as - whisper it -
"A SOCIALIST" !!! This demonic castigation of the "Great Man" appears to have been missed for some by the "worthies" at the hootsmon.

So quick Fifi, round up your slavering NEW LABOUR cronies like Graham (frae Fa'kirk - ken?) and
declare war on France at once! Then, after yet another of your NEW LABOUR Wars, hundreds of thousands of women, men, and kiddies murdered, its Iron Crosses all round, goosestepping along the Mall, with Gormless Gordo taking the salute, whilst praising your COURAGE, PATRIOTISM, and CHRISTIAN VALUES.

Maybe the press corp could ask where the ex leader of Glasgow City Council has gone.

Is he in the Emerald Isle, Australia, or some far away island such as the Caymans.

The ex leader may have health problems and there is every sympathy with that but the public should surely have a right to ask where he has gone, with who and why.

Openness in the face of rumour and allegation is something that is most helpful and it seems that it would be better if someone could confirm that there are no causes for concern.
