MSPS are to launch an inquiry into a potential high-speed rail link between Scotland and England.
Holyrood's transport committee is seeking views about how a new line could cut journey times and boost passenger numbers. However, the plan would need Westminster backing, with ministers still undecided.

First Link Edinburgh to Glasgow
If possible link to both cities airports.

Could be built and in service far quicker than any English link

Then link to the south and England via Carlisle.

It must provide a direct, high-speed link from Edinburgh/Glasgow to mainland Europe, with planned extensions to Inverness and to Ireland.

I have a dream!

The last Tory Government promised Scotland and the North of England high speed rails links to the Channel Tunnel but they never materialised?

The Channel Tunnel was only built for London and the South East of England.
