GAS prices are set to soar and then remain high for the foreseeable future, a report has revealed.
The independent report commissioned by Centrica, which owns British Gas, warns that prices could increase by 70 per cent.

Jake Ulrich, managing director of Centrica Energy, admitted that gas price rises were likely to lead to a "potentially significant" increase in the number of people in fuel poverty.

He also predicted that people would have to change their habits to deal with higher prices.

He said: "I do think we will see people change their behaviour. I think people will use less energy and I hate to go back to the Jimmy Carter days in the US but maybe it's two jumpers instead of one."

He added: "I think people will change the temperature they keep the house at, they'll be more cognisant of energy waste, they'll buy better appliances."

Well by the time the increases come along we'll be really relieved that it was only 40% instead of 70% and we'll gladly pay up. What this lot needs is a rocket up the posterior.

For example a 1 day per week "switch off" co-ordinated across the country. Uncomfortable and double jerseys all round but that would make Centrica etc sit up and take notice of their customers for a change instead of bloated executive salaries and shareholder windfalls. They may be further encouraged to increase UK storage capacity so that cheap gas produced in summer is stored here and not on the continent to re-sell back at inflated prices and no doubt all controlled by the same holding company.

It would also not be beyond the wit of man or even Gordon Brown to investigate the role of City speculators in raising prices of strategic commodities like oil and gas and taking action as appropriate. It should be a simple case of "follow the money". However that hasn't been one of his or Mr Darling's strong points.

Notice too that the price of oil has gone down recently to below $130/barrel. Did you notice the corresponding reduction at the pumps? Thought not. Is Gordon feeling our pain? No he's just raking in even more revenue to cover the gap left by his own fiscal imprudence. Gaun yersl' Glasgow East.

What's the number 5 thing about? Oil, gas, nuclear, .... piffle.

We should listen to the bees regarding energy usage, they flap their wings 16% less and use 60% less energy to fly when the air gets 20 DegC warmer and less dense, no wonder the computer models can never get them to fly, rubbish in, rubbish out as we mathematical modellers used to say. Regarding bills though you will all pay whatever companies demand and like it because you are all too busy playing politics instead of demanding to know why they aren't using the at least four or five methods on line in various thousands of sites telling you that there are other ways to get energy far cheaper than paying some fat cat and his shareholder sidekicks to call you names at the same time as robbing you blind. http://highered.mcgraw-hill.com/sites/dl/free/0072437316/120060/honeybees_keep_cool44.pdf Tesla's evanescent drive mode car taking energy from stable electro-magnetic storms on the sun using quantum tunnelling is another case in point. But do you really want to live in a world where the maker of bees is smarter than us? Tough if you don't because clearly you already do. The means for far cheaper energy are there for all to see and have been for years, ever since you first saw your first bumble bee, and they have been given out free to all so isn't it about time we listened to the bees if not to me? Someone asked me this week what planet I was living on and I simply answered "The same one as the bee" .... the question is are you living on the same planet as me and the bee? http://www.orgonelab.org/miller.htm
