Car firm's environmental credentials are misleading

A LUXURY car manufacturer's environmental claims misled the public, the Advertising Standards Authority ruled today.
The Lexus poster and national newspaper adverts also portrayed speed in a way that might have encouraged motorists to drive irresponsibly, according to the watchdog.

It relates to a campaign for the Lexus RX400h hybrid, which was headlined: "Put your carbon foot down". It showed an image of the car with its wheels moving against a blurred background.

2. Power and torque at the driving wheels
3. Power/weight ratio
4. 0-60mph accelleration time
5. Top speed
6. How fast it will go round the Top Gear track
7. MPG when driving like grandad
8. MPG when driving normally
9. MPG when thrashing it
10. Synopsis using Top Gear terminology
11. Schoolboy "wow" factor
12. Whether or not it is acceptable to be seen in it picking the kids up from school
13. Whether it is a hairdressers car or not
14. Whether they do a faster, more powerful version of it
15. Old lady "scare" factor
16. Whether they SHOULD do a faster, more powerful version of it
17. How you get the 155mph restrictor removed
18. Whether it could beat May and Hammond in their flying washing machine
19. Position on the "cool wall"
20. Whether a footballer or a footballer's wife has ever bought one (bad if they have)
