BRITISH troops could be withdrawn from Germany for good, nearly 70 years after the end of the Second World War, if the Conservatives win the general election, it was revealed today.
Shadow Defence Secretary Liam Fox said it was "no longer necessary" to maintain the presence of more than 20,000 military personnel in Germany.

#1 steve 1511,aberdeen - "you do not hear of the germans going home in body bags from afghanistan" - You may not hear of them but there have been 40 German fatalities in Afghanistan as well as over 130 wounded in action. Additionally, it is rumoured that 12 members of the German KSK have been killed in Afghanistan but this cannot be confimed as the German Government does not publish any information on its Special Forces.
Not the scale and intensity that many US, Canadian, Dutch and British troops experience but pretty far from a "a life of leisure". The German Government decides how and where its troops serve and how many. If you must vent your spleen on someone, direct it at those responsible.
