SINGER Annie Lennox has undergone surgery for a back injury that forced her to return home early from an Aids conference.
Surgeons operated on the former Eurythmics star at a London hospital at the weekend to release a trapped nerve.
Release of the star's forthcoming album – a retrospective of her hits – has been postponed until next year as a result.
She also cancelled an appearance at the Festival of Politics in Edinburgh.
Lennox, 53, suffered a back spasm while attending this month's international Aids conference in Mexico.
Before leaving Mexico, the Scottish performer and campaigner was treated by a doctor who was attending a chiropractors' conference that happened to be on in her hotel.
In her blog, the star, now resting at her London home, wrote: "I came back to the UK and got wheeled off the plane... Felt a bit like Elizabeth Taylor.
"Got an MRI scan this morning, and am now sitting up in bed with my left foot like a dead fish."
A spokesman for her record company, SonyBMG, said: "Annie is now recuperating at home. She would like to thank all who have sent their well wishes in the past few days."
