A YOUTH who carved the letters BYT on the shoulder of a 14-year-old boy was yesterday fined £200.
Christopher Davidson, 20, of Hawick, Roxburghshire, used a needle and Indian ink for the home-made tattoo. The letters stand for Burnfoot Young Team.

The boy was a willing participant, but his mother found out about the tattoo and called the police.

Davidson was found guilty yesterday at Jedburgh Sheriff Court of carrying out the offence last November.

Nobody "carved " anything into anybody. One mouth breather gave another a tattoo. In some pretentious quarters it's art.

Tattoos should be made illegal. At best they are self inflicted injuries which can cause skin cancer and most people regret having them, later in life. I rest my case.
