MOTORISTS in the city centre couldn't believe their luck when a gang of parking angels offered to pay their fees today.
The offer seemed too good to be true for many drivers as the "meter maids" had to convince them there was no catch.

The stunt was dreamed up by millionaire businessman Paul Dickens, managing director of letting agents Alba Residential, who said he was frustrated by the difficulties facing motorists in Edinburgh.

Mr Dickens, managing director of letting agents Alba Residential, said: "Edinburgh drivers get a raw deal in the city centre, especially when it comes to parking.

"If you're lucky enough to find a space, you have to then spend a small fortune in parking fees."

The tycoon got the idea after reading about the original 1960s Meter Maids service in Surfers' Paradise, Australia, where bikini-wearing girls worked to attract consumers back into the city centre.

Wonder how much he saved on the free ads for his company.Lets face it,thats what it was all about, why no numbers for how much he paid out then ? Bet it cost him less that paying some fancy Ad company to get his company name in the national press (metro ran the story too)

It would be nice if Alba could actually do a good job for their 10% 'cos my dealings with them as a landlord have been nothing short of terrible. Instead of paying others meters how about reducing what you charge landlords?

Interesting concept: helping lawbreakers to get publicity. I'm sure he'd get a lot more if he hired a lawyer to try to free gary Glitter.
