THE long-delayed and massively over-budget Stirling-Alloa-Kincardine railway line is to open on Monday, 19 May, it has been confirmed.
The 13-mile route will cost up to £85 million, nearly three times original estimates, and should have been finished in 2005.

It will restore passenger trains to Alloa after a gap of nearly 40 years and divert coal trains bound for Longannet Power Station, near Kincardine, off the congested Forth Bridge.

"Long-delayed and massively over-budget"

Is there a reason that the acronym 'TIE' is being left out of this article? It's as if someone doesn't want to inform readers it is the same people that created this mess that are running the Edinburgh tram project.

Am I alone in looking forward to the launch of the new rail link ?

Instead of greetin' about the cost why not concentrate on the benefits?

There will be at least one less car trying to cross the Forth each morning.
