KATE Silverton will present the BBC's 8pm news bulletin, it was announced yesterday.
The BBC News 24 and BBC Breakfast host will also front the One O'Clock News when Sophie Raworth is on maternity leave.

The new BBC1 8pm bulletin will last only 90 seconds and is being introduced on Monday to attract younger viewers.

Silverton, 37, worked as a corporate financier in the City before moving to the BBC. She also presents special reports for Panorama.

She made the headlines two years ago when Philip Hayton, her News 24 co-presenter, walked out saying he could no longer stand working with her.

Natasha Kaplinsky speaks through her clenched teeth.

Kate Silverton was always quite good when she was a regular on The Wright Stuff before she moved to the BBC.
