Siobhan MacDonald, 40, of Livingston, is a receptionist at the Dogs Trust rehoming centre in West Calder.
1 What is your earliest memory of Edinburgh? I'm originally from Leith and I have vivid memories of playing on Leith Links as a child with my cousins. I also remember Sunday walks with my dad around the city.

2 What are your memories of school? I
really enjoyed my time at Leith Links Primary where we would often go on trips to visit all the local attractions. Things got a bit more serious though at Trinity Academy where I concentrated more on the academic side of life but I still enjoyed the trips to the zoo and the Capital's museums.

3 Where is your favourite place in Edinburgh and why? I love Princes Street for the shops, all our parks and green spaces, as well as the views of the Castle.

4 What are the best things about Edinburgh? I really enjoy the lifestyle and the buzz around the place – especially when the Festival is in full flow.

5 What would you change about the city? The weather drives me crazy. I feel especially sorry for all the visitors when it's a rainy summer.

6 Describe a perfect Edinburgh day/night out. I love a good meal in one of the many restaurants the Capital has to offer. My ideal night out would also involve taking in a show at the Edinburgh Playhouse.

7 Which sports interest you? I don't really get that excited about sport but my kids love football. They are enthusiastic Hearts season ticket holders and so are regular visitors to Tynecastle.

8 What was your most embarrassing moment? I don't have any really embarrassing moments but my family says I am quite dozy because I am always putting the kettle in the fridge or the milk back in the cupboard with the cornflakes. It's embarrassing at the time but we laugh about it later.

9 What is your greatest achievement? It's a bit sad this really but my kids have to be my greatest achievement. My daughter Jenna is now 15 and my son Michael is 12.

10 Sum up Edinburgh in three words. Lively, fun, beautiful.

• The charity is urging dog owners to help them raise money in Sunday's Great Scottish Walk.
