PRISCILLA BRIGHTMAN, 61, is an artist whose debut exhibition is on at Bell's Mills House
What is your earliest memory of Edinburgh? As a child, I remember coming here from Perth and seeing the Forth Road Bridge, the boats and a sandy beach.

What are your memories of school? I went to Perth Junior
Academy and I remember Daffodil Day, where everyone brought in daffodils from their parents' gardens and then sold them. I also remember running to school through a field of cattle and exchanging scrap paper cuttings.

Where is your favourite place in Edinburgh and why? I love wandering along the Water of Leith by the allotments with all the crazy sheds, amazing crops and flower beds.

What are the best things about Edinburgh? I love the villages within the city, the buzz of the Fringe, as well as the art galleries and beautiful buildings. I also love that there are still local people living here with local accents.

What would you change about the city? It changes on a daily basis which is exciting so long as it isn't wasteful. Edinburgh has been planned carefully with social values taken into consideration and homage paid to past successes. Generally the city is thriving in all its glory and is progressing well.

Describe a perfect Edinburgh day/night out. It would involve a trip to the Royal Botanic Garden or to Yellowcraigs beach where I would walk along the sand to the rocks of North Berwick. After arriving back in the city for a late lunch and browsing around the art galleries, I'd have a drink with family and friends and then head to the cinema or the theatre.

Which sports interest you? I like skiing, particularly at Hillend. I also love walking and cycling.

What was your most embarrassing moment? I'm certainly not the first to have done this but it's still embarrassing – being at work and walking around with the back of my skirt tucked into my knickers.

What is your greatest achievement? It has to be bringing up my three lovely children and getting my degree two years ago from Edinburgh College of Art while working full-time.

Sum up Edinburgh in three words. Edinburgh is wonderful.
