THE Scottish Government was accused yesterday of dragging its heels over school building plans.
Labour made the claim after a report by HM Inspectorate of Education highlighted shortcomings in the PE facilities at several primary schools.

The report, based on a sample of schools inspected, found nearly all of them had designated PE areas, although in a few cases pupils had to walk to a village hall. But it also said that "overall, pupils' changing facilities for physical education were too limited and
only a few schools had high-quality outdoor facilities".

Rhona Brankin, for Labour, said: "Scotland's young people deserve better than this. Not one new school has been commissioned by the SNP since they came in."

How long does it take to plan and build a school gym? More than a year, methinks.

Surely Labour's official view is that this kind of thing can wait while we replace Trident and bomb Iraq into little pieces.

Labour and the Lib Dems had eight times as long as the SNP have been in government to sort this out. Why are there still schools with inadequate facilities in the first place?

Yet another effing Labour press release presented as news without the opportunity for a government reply.

What a pathetic apology for a newspaper.

Things got bad under Brillo Pad but this is just getting ridiculous.

i agree - you'd have to be dense to call that article news - in fact it's almost - daily record / the sun - standard of journalism.

i would expect a lot more from the scotsman.

Doesn't really surprise me that the SNP haven't got round to working on this. They been too busy trying to break up the UK to get anything else done.

How's there manifesto pledge on paying back student endowments coming along?
