A FILM about asylum seekers in Edinburgh has won an award at a US film festival.
Trouble Sleeping is set among a group of asylum seekers from the Middle East and North Africa living in the Capital.

The film was made with the help of asylum seekers in Edinburgh.

It tells of their constant battle to convince the authorities they should be allowed to stay in the UK.

Screened at the Edinburgh International Film Festival in June, it has also been shown on BBC2.

The film won the prize for Best Narrative Feature at the Peace on Earth Film Festival in Chicago and is the first feature film made by Edinburgh's Theatre Workshop, renowned for its work with community groups.

It was co-produced with Makar Productions, which previously made Blind Flight, the story of Brian Keenan's and John McCarthy's kidnapping.

These character are scroungers, not asylum seekers.

They are here illegally, and in any real country that actually cared about its own citizens and its own social stability, they would be booted out, not given handouts.

Of course the film won an award ! The luvvies looove to be soooo PC .....

'Asylum seekers' are just scroungers as 1 suggested and immigration on the whole should be suspended completely until we have got our own house in order - we are way overstreached as a country without adding to the problem.

The politicians, of course, don't have the balls to do the right thing for their own people which is ironic since we voted them in to serve US not some Johnny Foreigner with a sob story, economic migrants or some 'cousins' who want to come over to 'join' their 'family'.

Britain can still be a friendly and open place even if - dare I say - we put our own peoples interests ahead of any 'blow in' communities. Our government (run by PC twits) are so concerned about what minorities may think that they have forgotten their duty to the rest of us - shameful ....
