Thousands of Scottish rail passengers faced travel misery today as signal workers staged the first of two strikes this week.
Network Rail workers in Scotland walked out for 24 hours from noon and will strike again on Thursday from the same time.

The Rail Maritime and Transport (RMT) union and Network Rail management will meet for more talks tomorrow in an attempt to resolve the dispute.

We want to know what you think of the strike:

• Have you been affected by the action?

• Are you one of the strikers?

Unless I am wrong I think this group of railworkers are repeatedly threatening strike action for some reason.
If this is the case then network rail/the government want to carry out an investigation into the case.

It is high time this union was crushed. Transport is a devolved issue and this must be dealt with. I also urge First Scotrail to enforce their staff uniform policy and stop these jokers sneering at us with their RMT ties.

I cannot believe RMT striking during a finiancial crisis.Peoples jobs are at stake and they are striking over working conditions. I have no sympathy for them. They should be grateful that they have a job when so many are at risk.

Well done RMT. A union still prepared to fight it's corner. Also 2# we are allowed to wear our union ties if we wish to. I will wear mine with great pride tommorrow.

I travelled on the 5pm Edinburgh to Glasgow train tonight and it ran like clockwork. It would therefore suggest that the busiest line in Scotland can function perfectly with skeleton signalling staff levels.

One therefore comes to the conclusion that the signalling function must be grossly over-manned (especially in these days of ever-increasing signalling automation and centralised control centres), therefore why not rationalise signalling staff accordingly and use the money saved to reward the remaining staff in turn for them signing a no-strike agreement?

Problem solved and the weary public spared from more misery at the hand of this mob!

5# Glasgow-Edinburgh lines are probably controlled by IECCs Easier to man using scabs and management. But don't forget who will be on the recieving end of any co*k up caused by using staff with less experience. The passenger.

6 - danblob - hooray for the unions - making sure the state and the public gets ripped off so their members can be grossly overvalued and underworked !

7 - spot on - I'd rather cut their pay by 5% a day they were on strike and watch them crawl back to work when they were bankrupt and back on minimum wage which is more than these corrupt monkeys deserve.

#6 for "scabs" I take it you mean "public-spirited professional individuals who refuse to be used as political pawns by left-wing thugs such as Bob Crow"?

If you cut their pay how can they pay tax to help bail out all the savers, firstime buyers and fat cat city workers under threat from their shady dealings.Or is that different because one group is working class cattle and the other is shysters and con artist then ?

railway from the inside,

the whole strike was a complete and utter waste of time
the agreements made with acas were in place already.
the rest were of no substance. not one shread of evidence could be brought to the table.
the perth branch of the r.m.t. should hang there head in shame especially, the chairman, who without doubt had a personnel grievance with the company and continully does.
ther were without doubt lies put not just to the members but to the higher echlons of the r.m.t.
this man who i believe was named in your paper should be thourghly investegated not just by the members of the r.m.t.
but also by whatever means for causing untold chaos to this country
