PASSENGERS at Edinburgh Airport are facing big delays this evening after a pothole was discovered in the main runway.
HOLE IN ONE: Flights were diverted today after a hole was found in the airport's main runway.
HOLE IN ONE: Flights were diverted today after a hole was found in the airport's main runway.
The runway was closed while engineers fixed the fault and planes were diverted onto the crosswind runway.

The hole, at the Newbridge end of the runway, was discovered at around 2pm and airport operator BAA said repair work was completed by 4.45pm.

A total of four flights bound for Edinburgh were diverted to other airports in Scotland, while the majority of flights in and out of Edinburgh are facing delays.

A £16 million, eight-month resurfacing programme of the airport's main runway got underway two weeks ago.

If they can fix a pothole in 3 hours maybe we should pass on their number to the Council.... ;-)

Please don't employ the gang who are currently digging up the road between Gowkly Moss roundabout and Bilston. Absolutely no change for the past three months, just traffic lights and delays - never any sign of anyone actually doing anything.

what do you expect when the budget for repairs has been hacked because ferrovial or better know as the spanish cowboys are struggling with the massive debt they incured when buying the company, long term things don't look good until the breakup of the baa chain is done,

Must be the fault of the SNP. I'm surprised the Hootsmon did not have a 'dig' at Alex Salmond on this one

#4 Mario : IT better get fixed by teatime tomorrow !!

From the library of my baronial mansion in the European village jewel of Kirkliston I can see everything is now back to normal. The airport even seems busier than usual.

Er.......Grupo Ferrovial are presently engaged in a £multi million resurface of Edinburgh Airport's main runway. The work should be finished in late autumn.

What a suitable way to welcome visitors to Edinburgh - get them used to the pot holes from the second they land :)
