HARRY Potter author JK Rowling was today named as the highest earner in the rich lists compiled by US business magazine Forbes.
The Edinburgh-based writer earned a total of £150 million in the past year, putting her ahead of US talk show host Oprah Winfrey, who took home £137.5 million.

Ms Rowling's books about the boy wizard have sold 375 million copies worldwide and the final instalment, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, has sold 44 million since it came out last July, according to the magazine.

Harry Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe, 19 today, shared top spot in the Forbes' so-called "tweens" list, earning £12.5 million last year, while his co-stars Emma Watson, 18, and Rupert Grint, 19, also made the top ten, earning £2.75 million and £2.5m respectively.

Interesting that we are not allowed to comment on the non-story that is Richard and Gillian Saville-Smith's "website fight".

Wonder why, eh? Is it because Gillian is also known as Gillian Ferguson and writes for the Scotsman - and that this is the only possible reason that such self-serving tripe would ever end up in print?

If you were worth that kind of money would you still have a roll and findus crispy pancake for tea, or would you go to the chip shop instead?
