A RAPE victim who was assaulted while her attacker was out on bail has hit-out at the justice system.
Samantha Todd, 20, was subjected to the horrific attack in her Gorgie flat by Paul Flynn, 36, who was given a life sentence yesterday at the High Court in Edinburgh.
Flynn, who Miss Todd had known since she was five, was on bail at the time he raped her and was under supervision following early release from a two-year sentence for assault and robbery.
Miss Todd, who has waived her right to anonymity, reportedly said: "He was someone I trusted but he's left me terrified to go out alone and too frightened to open my front door.
"If he had still been in prison for his other crimes then he wouldn't have been able to rape me.
"People sent to jail should be made to serve the full sentence."
