A MAN carrying a gobstopper in a sock was fined £400 after it was deemed to be an offensive weapon. Jamie Harvey, 20, of Maybury, Edinburgh said he needed it for protection.
At Edinburgh Sheriff Court he admitted carrying the snooker ball-sized gobstopper and sock at Drumbrae Leisure Centre on 19 December.
