AN NHS Lothian director has been appointed site manager of St John's Hospital as the health board looks to build a better working relationship with West Lothian Council.
John Jack, director of facilities, is taking up the position at the hospital as the two organisations look to work more closely on issues such as health inequalities, economic regeneration and transport infrastructure.

NHS Lothian and West Lothian councillors have been at odds on the current and future role of the hospital.

Mr Jack said: "The council and NHS each play an enormously important role in trying to improve the health and welfare of the people of West Lothian.

The closer we work together, the more we can continue to achieve."

New initiatives, including a regular newsletter, are planned to keep the community in touch with NHS improvements and increased investment.

Councillor Gordon Beurskens said: "We welcome John's appointment, it's a very positive step."
