A CITY park has become one of the first in Scotland to win a prestigious Green Flag award.
Pupils from South Morningside Primary School joined the Friends of Braidburn Valley Park to unfurl the green flag.

The park was given the award with Harrison Park. The scheme aims to encourage safe, clean and accessible public parks which are managed in an environmentally sustainable way.

The award is the national standard for parks and green spaces in England and Wales, and is being piloted in Scotland this year.

Paths and signs have been upgraded at Braidburn, while volunteers have planted wildflower meadows, trees and bulbs.

The Friends groups has also just been awarded a Parks and Gardens Community grant to create a permanent orienteering course in the park, and a Neighbourhood Partnership grant to create a website.

Robert Aldridge, the city's environment leader, said: "Hoisting the Green Flag celebrates Edinburgh's commitment to high quality parks as well as the hard work of those who keep our green spaces beautiful."

What a shame they caused so much damage to the park paths doing all the upgrading of trees. In doing so they have factured they water pipes running below them causing the already muddy path to be flooded every time it rains. The idiot who allowed the trees to be planted in the location should be burried under them.

Well Well, it looks like a few skeletons have been found and the Volino/Travers dastardly duo dont like it.

Why were the comments above removed? Because they spoke the truth about two of Edinburgh's most notorious so called 'community workers'.

They are bestest pals with Andy Picken from the EEN and have simply got him to remove the posts which clearly identified Travers and Volino as chancers, fraudsters and criminals.

This post will be removed too probably, that's why I am sprinkling it all over the Scotsman forums.

as a former janny working besides jinty I know the truth and it is a shame how these guys shaft edinburgh taxpayers.....but the EEN wont run that story will they???????
