DNA fingerprinting has been used for the first time to identify viable IVF embryos, in a breakthrough that could revolutionise fertility treatment.
The same technique used by police to trap suspects in criminal investigations also has the potential to ensure successful pregnancies following in-vitro fertilisation.

In a pioneering study, scientists from Australia and Greece matched specific em
bryos to individual babies after they were born.

Pinpointing viable embryos in this way is something that has never been done before.

Under normal circumstances it would be impossible for doctors to tell which of a number of embryos they have placed in a woman's womb has resulted in the birth of a baby.

The new research conducted in Athens opens up the possibility of far more accurate screening of IVF embryos.

By using this ability to match embryos and babies, scientists can now search for the definitive genetic hallmarks of a successful pregnancy. Once they are recognised, it will be possible to single out and implant only those embryos with a high chance of producing a live birth.

Instead of placing a number of embryos in a woman's womb, doctors may in future need to transfer only one, and still be confident of success.

As a result, not only would pregnancy rates improve, but IVF multiple births would cease to be a problem.

Most women undergoing IVF treatment have two or more embryos implanted to maximise their chances of becoming pregnant.

Because of the practice, twins make up one in four IVF births. Among natural births, just one in 80 produces twins.

Scientists hope the research, reported in Human Reproduction, will make IVF treatment less of a gamble.

DYW is having Two, "Embryos Implanted" if we are lucky enough to get to this stage.

Like me DYW says she would be, 'Absolutely Delighted' if we ended up with,.."Twins"

Problem could be, one splits into Two and then it could be 'Triplets' or if Two split into Two,,'Quads'

I sometimes joke about this!

DYW don't find it,..'Funny'

But I KNOW however it goes, my DYW will be Soo Pleased to even get Pregnant (and Soo will I)

We Will,,'Cherish' the one think we would both love to be blessed with,

And that is a Child, NO MATTER how many!

You Know something,?..

After now coming on 11years for the 'Quest for a Baby'

We have been through it all, from, 'Hope to Failure'

'Tears could Flood Me' And the "Silent Tears" must be Absolutely Tragic for my DYW (Suzanne)

This is why I respect her and Love Her, Soo Much and talk about Her on here!

DYW's,...'Maternal Instinct' is Soo strong she keeps on going, some of the IVF treatment she has had, has not been so pleasant (as I have had as-well), but we still dont give up and still keep Hope!

The ERI IVF Team we are with, are..'Second to None'!!

I cant get-over their, Kindness and willingness
and 'Medical Excellence' they have given us both, this goes for all the ERI IVF Staff!

Truly Beautiful People, with caring 'Hearts'

______________

Ironic Though! for some, Pregnancy just comes normal, and did anyone watch BBC2 Programme on Abortion, Tuesday 9pm,?

I watched it, but Suzs (DYW) refused to watch this programme, she had a few 'Glances', it made her feel 'Terrible'!

As I think it did for the ones on the 'programme' that decided to 'Abort Their Baby'

Yes life IS Soo Cruel at Times!

We are going through this now!

'Everything Crossed' maybe in 9/10months time, we, if Lucky and are Blessed, We will be able to tell you the names for our wanted Baby/Babies.

Chuckles ... is ther any truth to the rumour that DYW is "Darling Young Wendy"? Has your 94 years finally addled your brain??

Mind you, if it is Wendy ... you'll be helping the electorate by giving her something else to think about. She'd still be in some form of Labour, wouldn't she??

Do tell us the truth, old boy!
