EMBRYOS near the very beginning of development can yield stem cells for therapeutic applications without being destroyed in the process, research shows.
The discovery, reported at a fertility conference in Spain, raises the prospect of overcoming many of the ethical objections to working with human embryonic stem cells.

Stem cells from human embryos have the ability to develop into virtually any part of the body and could be used to treat a host of disorders, including currently incurable diseases such as type 1 diabetes and Parkinson's.

But to date, stem cells have been obtained from five-day-old embryos in a process which breaks the embryo apart.

The new development suggests stem cells can be removed at a much earlier stage when embryos are easier to manipulate without causing harm.

Sorry, my DYW and I feel that our frozen embryo's are our, Loved, Wanted,...'Babies-to-Be' and could not have our embryo's experimented on!

Even if our IVF treatment goes well, and we get the precious result in a Pregnancy, our other frozen embryo's are part of us, and our Love we share.

Thus our frozen embryo's that might not be used for implant, are highly personnel to us, a part of us both!

We see our embryo's as,..our Babies to-be!

We don't want them, 'tampered on', as one would not let their Baby, to become a Medical experiment!

We are both for medical research and don't mind helping others!

But the subject requires, sensitivity in the highest extreme, remembering,..

Embryo's are, them to whom they belong to, the couple who made them possible, in most cases, is to bear their offspring, this is NEVR Done Lightly, it is part of the couples, Love for one and other and the natural need to procreate, hence an Embryo, is their,..

'Baby-to-be'

The,..'Asking for Permission' for research is like organ Donation!

And remember the,.."Asking" must be done first!

This IS two lives that made it possible, and one 'Potential' Life, you are asking to experiment on!

YES!,, I am highly protective to our Embryo's, I am the Father!, ..After-all!

Jeez, Chuckles ... how about trying to get some coherency into your rambling? I agree with a lot of what you write ... but the way you write it leaves a lot to be desired. All joking aside, you're winning no discussion or argument if you jump around like that. And I don't think they'll touch your embryos unless they become non-viable. Even scientists are not that insensitive!

Keep calm my friend. Worry not your aged brow! :D

BW ~5,

Indeed Charles, you're our very own little ray of sunshine (from a very big, very dark cloud).

I wouldn't mind being experimented on with stem cells, starting with the thinning thatch and calling at all vital organs on the way south terminating at the ingrown toenail.

Douglas ~7,

Thankyou, pity BW don't see it that way!

"The Thinning Thatch" cant,..'Drink to That' mines not to bad for age, at least the colour isn't changing yet, with all the 'Stress' BW gives me.

My DYW has gorgeous hair though, long, silky thick, and natural curls, so I can appreciate but cant have!

I'm sorry but i have to wonder, these people that complain about embryo research, it being a 'life' and all that - have you never masterbated? Surely thats a crime as well? What about letting a woman have a period - is that not a waste of precious life too?

And Charles, can i also add that i find your eratic style irritating rather than interesting. Its very hard to work out what you are saying, and whther you are being serious or just joking.

I think this is nonsense.
The younger the stem cells are the more they are open to disease.
This is why the results from adult stem cell research is successful in actually finding cures and why it isn't from babies.
Hence the opposition to the recent bill.
