A BALANCED look is the key to a beautiful body, research claims.
Scientists found that symmetry is important to attractiveness in the body as well as the face.

Previous studies had demonstrated that people with facial features that are symmetrical – so the left and right sides of the face match – are more attractive to the opposite sex.

But the relationship between body symmetry and attractiveness has been less clear.

Researchers at Brunel University in Uxbridge, west London, used a 3D optical scanner to create detailed images of the body shape of 40 male and 37 female volunteers.

A separate group of 87 volunteers was then shown the figures and asked to rate them for attractiveness. Both men and women reported that symmetric bodies were more attractive than asymmetric ones.

Definition of beauty usually hangs below a woman's chin, not in the balance.

How strange! Earlier research has shown that images that have been modified to render faces completely symmetrical have been found unattractive by the experimental subjects.
