HEALTH officials are continuing to investigate an outbreak of salmonella at a hospital after a further three cases were identified.
Nine people at the Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline have now been infected with the bug, NHS Fife said.
An investigation was launched last month after six cases were detected. A further three cases have now been confirmed.
Dr Charles Sanders, a consultant in public-health medicine at NHS Fife, said the strain of salmonella appeared to be of "limited severity". Its source has not yet been found. The majority of those who have contracted the bacteria are patients.
