THE nation's neds, one of Scotland's most successful exports, are to be punished by being sent on leisure-amenity holidays. Liberal critics said yesterday this was taking persecution of this important cultural group to a new low.

I enjoyed this! Witty and provocative. We'll soon be having a Ned of the Year award, and possibly a Scottish Ned Day which will have not a public holiday but a public 'all at work' day.

They should really invite Lord Tebbitt along. His idea to invite the gun carrying neds and gangsters along to organised shoots was wonderful. They'd arrive in all their chav gear but would leave as wee toffs, genned up on how to hold their shotguns properly next time they wanted to murder anybody.
Scotland used to have plenty organisations that taught youngsters various skills.....they were called the Boy's Brigade, the Scouts and Guides. Unfortunately political correctness made it difficult for well meaning men to carry on leading them.
