THE NATION was shocked to read about a chap who'd lived on nothing but biscuits for 25 years. That the man was a chef added to the piquancy of the tale, which I was far too busy to read in full. However, I was flabbergasted by a photograph of the fellow, who looked clear-eyed and hale of complexion.
How could this be, if his idea of a well-balanced meal was a bowl of custard creams? True, he also had the odd bag of crisps or slice of toast, but the mainstay of his culinary experience was the humble biccie, as he was psychologically averse to nea...
