FORMER Ku Klux Klan member Edgar Ray Killen was sent to prison yesterday pending an appeal of his manslaughter conviction for murdering three civil rights workers in 1964.
Earlier, he was bailed after claiming to be wheelchair-bound, but was later seen walking.
