Tories call for offenders to wear uniform

OFFENDERS carrying out work in the community as part of their sentences should wear high visibility uniforms, the Conservatives suggested yesterday.
The party's justice spokesman, Glasgow MSP Bill Aitken, said the move would raise public awareness about criminals working in their communities, and remind offenders they were being punished for breaking the law.

The Scottish Government last week announced an overhaul of the system, which will see fewer low-risk offenders sent to prison.

Mr Aitken said: "We acceptthat in some cases community sentences are appropriate. But we believe the public should be aware of the situation at all times."

A spokesman for justice secretary Kenny MacAskill said: "We have been piloting new ways of making the work more visible to communities and will act on the results."

Pink would be a good colour and they'd stand out from the crowd.

#1 subrosa, A perfect colour for them, but it will be overturned as usual as being demeaning and agin their 'Uman Rights'!
They should adopt the tactics of Sheriff Joe Arapaio in the states. His methods work at a fraction of the cost we are spending on them.

Howe about Old Firm shell suits, then we would know the bams? Or they could wear Tory Union Jack arrows on their claes.

Do not have a problem with them wearing identifying clothing, just waiting for the Nazi's and star of David comparrisons to appear. The work in the community is a joke anyway.

2 Dragonhead I posted a few thoughts in reply to your post about yesterdays drink in the Army issue. Have a look.

"at a fraction of the cost we are spending on them"

Eh????

Who is "we". You are a pretendy Chinese, and are spending nothing on them. Incidentally, I am reliably informed that you are actually a Kiwi (as well as being a pretendy Chinese). So I say again, who is "we", and how much are "you" spending on them?

That's the name of the Sheriff I was thinking about. Thanks. He's certainly got the right idea. Didn't he do away with TV then the US government said he had to supply TV, so he hooked all TVs up to the news and weather forecast and said that's your TV.

Time we had a bit of that in this country instead of the play station etc culture.

IF, this Tory dinosaur walks around the streets of any Scottish city he will see dozens, even hundreds, of workmen (and women) wearing fluorescent jackets of one colour or another.

Does he want Tory blue with black arrows just like the cartoons, or blue/grey and white stripes like Auschwitz-Birkenau?

Should be prison-orange.
Then we could call them 'orange men' ;-)

Pretendy Chinese,me? Never ever.Speak the language but have never ever pretended to be Chinese.
There is a Kiwi connection, so what? As for "we" absolutely appropriate. As I have said before, you can have porridge stains on your shirt and heather between your toes. That makes you a "Shortbread tin" Scot.A Wannabe back before 1746, when you got your butts kicked.Tut tut tut! Grow up.
